Pekka Rinne to Start in Goal vs Avs Tonight

Barry Trotz affirmed that he will follow his traditional "shutout rule" and start backup keeper Pekka Rinne in goal in tonights game versus Colorado at the Sommet Center. Rinne was perfect Monday night on the road at Buffalo stopping all 30 Sabre shots.

Colorado (12-12-0) defeated the Preds (12-10-2) 1-0 on November 8 in Denver in the only meeting between the two teams this year. They will be without Captain Joe Sakic, who is projected to be out another six weeks with a disc issue and defenseman Adam Foote. Peter Budaj, who has had recent success against the Preds is expected in goal for the Avs.

Ortmeyer Sent to Milwaukee Veteren forward Jed Ormeyer was assigned to Milwaukee on Wednesday. He has not played for the Preds since a knee injury last February and a subsequent blood disorder that slowed his return. He was not sent on a rehab assignment and will have to clear waivers in order to play in the AHL. It is doubtful that with his recent medical issues that anyone would pick him up. With the Predators depth in young talented players, I have serious doubts of a return to the Predators unless there is a rash of injuries later in the year.

He currently carries a 15-7-0-2 record flaying for the Tri City Americans in the WHL. He was the first goalie taken in last summer's NHL draft being taken with the 17th pick by the Preds.
