Predators Begin Critical Week on the Road

Programming note: There will not be a POTG Radio show tonight or next Monday as the Predators have games. The show will return in two weeks on January 25.

The Nashville Predators take their last regular season trip to Western Canada this week with games tonight in Vancouver, Tomorrow in Edmonton and Friday night in Calgary. Before Christmas, the Preds took two of three on a similar trip losing only at Vancouver.

The Preds are a point behind Vancouver and two behind the Northwest Division leading Calgary Flames so it is imperative that they come with their best efforts in contests that can provide a four point swing. There are only two points separating third (Calgary 57 points) and the Preds, who are in seventh with 55 in the tightly bunched Western Conference race. Detroit has pulled within three of the Preds in ninth also.

The Predators will also have a team building day on Wednesday in lieu of practice so they will have a chance to escape the pressures of the close playoff race for a day and enjoyed hanging out in a off-ice situation.

Predators - Ducks Wrap-Up from Saturday...

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to do a game recap Saturday but here is the link to the Postgame interviews.

Bryan Mullen had the game story and notes column at the Tennessean.

Jim Diamond was off the Examiner and on the AP beat. Here's one version of his post at ESPN.

In the Predator blogs Forechecker, Brandon Felder, The View From 111, What the Puck, Fan Huddle, and See Puck City have stories.

The other side of the game story comes from the Orange County Record.

In Preds Nation...

Bryan Mullen has a story on the Preds road trip and a game at a glance for tonight's game.

Ben Guite was returned to Milwaukee of the AHL after playing two games last week due to injuries to Predator players. Guite's return to the Ads probably indicates that Joel Ward will return for tonight's in Vancouver.

I first heard of the injury to Dave Scatchard from our friends at Short Shifts on Saturday night. Here is the lowdown on the injury and the Ad's win over Toronto. They also have the story of yesterday's win over Peoria.

Jim Diamond has his first post- World Juniors prospect roundup at the Examiner.

Preds101 has an anatomy of a goal with everyone's favorite defensive pairing og Klein and Hamhuis from Saturday's game.

Around the NHL..

One of the more bizarre stories of the year started on Friday night and ended last night when the Devils and Lightning had their game stopped halfway through the second period on Friday, due to a computer lighting issue. After a long delay, it was decided to stop and resume play on Sunday. The Bolts were ahead 3-0 on Friday and held on for a 4-2 win on Sunday. Gary Bettman was in the crowd, sporting a t-shirt with a sweater, looking very casual.

he other real head scratcher for the weekend involved a massive brawl in the KHL. Preds101 has the video on a few comments.

More Later...
