NHL Awards adds more star power to this year's show


As we prepare to gear up for our trip to Las Vegas and the NHL Awards next week, I am thrilled with the star-studded lineup of celebrity presenters for this years event.

I am especially excited to see Ray Liotta (Goodfellas, Field of Dreams, Blow, Hannibal, and others) added to the list of presenters. I am also interested in asking Vince Vaughn about one of the great hockey scenes of all time in the movie "Swingers."

The Nashville Predators will be well represented with their own set of stars with Pekka Rinne (Vezina, NHL13 Cover Vote), Shea Weber (Norris), Mike Fisher (NHL Foundation Award) and David Poile (GM of the Year) as finalists in their respective categories.

NHL ATTRACTS MORE STARS FOR NBC SPORTS NETWORK AND CBC BROADCAST OF 2012 NHL AWARDS IN LAS VEGAS ON JUNE 20
Eric Stonestreet, Ray Liotta, Cheryl Burke and Adam Pally Join Line-Up of Presenters for NHL’s Post-Season Awards Show at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.

LOS ANGELES (JUNE 12, 2012) – The National Hockey League (NHL) has increased its roster of presenters for the 2012 NHL Awards™, the annual celebration of hockey and the 2011-12 NHL season’s top performances, by four with the additions of actors Eric Stonestreet (“Modern Family”), Ray Liotta (“All Things Fall Apart,” “Killing Them Softly,” Goodfellas”), Adam Pally (“Happy Endings”) and professional dancer and TV personality Cheryl Burke (“Dancing with the Stars”).  The 2012 NHL Awards at the Encore Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas on Wednesday, June 20 will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network in the United States and online at cbcsports.ca in Canada.  CBC-TV will carry the complete two-hour celebration nationally starting at 8:00 p.m. local / 8:30 p.m. NT.

Burke, Liotta, Pally and Stonestreet join previously announced presenters actors Kevin Connolly (“Entourage”), Colin Hanks (“Dexter,” “The Good Guys”), Joshua Jackson (“Fringe”), Cory Monteith (“Glee”), Matthew Perry (“Go On,” “Friends”), Vince Vaughn (“The Watch,” “Wedding Crashers,” “The Break-Up”) and Michael Vartan (“Hawthorne,” “Alias”); NBC’s Pierre McGuire and Eddie Olczyk; Hockey Night in Canada’s Andi Petrillo and PJ Stock; NHL Network’s Barry Melrose and Kathryn Tappen; sports broadcasterErin Andrews; and hockey legends Ted Lindsay and Mark Messier. The broadcast also will feature special appearances by actors Will Arnett (“Up All Night,” “Arrested Development”) and Tracy Morgan (“30 Rock”) and director/writer/actor Kevin Smith (“Red State,” “Clerks”).

Nickelback, known around the world for their powerful and spectacular live shows, headlines the 2012 NHL Awards with two live performances, presented by Verizon, on the Encore Theater stage.

The 2012 NHL Awards will honor the best regular-season players in a wide range of categories, including most valuable player (Hart Trophy), outstanding goaltender (Vezina Trophy), outstanding defenseman (Norris Trophy) and outstanding rookie (Calder Trophy).  The winner of the EA SPORTS NHL® 13 Cover Athlete presented by BlackBerry will be unveiled live at the 2012 NHL Awards™.

Sirius XM Satellite Radio will provide radio coverage. NHL Network™ and NHL.com will provide extensive coverage of the 2012 NHL Awards festivities. NHL Network will host exclusive live coverage of the 2012 NHL Awards Red Carpet show prior to the event.
