Preds Fall to the Thrashers 4-2 in First preseason Game
The Nashville Predators actually contributed to four scores (two for themselves and two for the Thrashers) in route to a 4-2 loss on Thursday night. With many of the Pred regulars sitting in section 213 (see above) the alleged 10000 Pred fans were treated to a fast paced spirited opening night of the preseason. In many ways it was like a Milwaukee Admirals - Chicago Wolves game with just enough regulars thrown in to keep up the pace. Kevin Kleine would have been the Preds first star had one been awarded for his aggressive defensive play and one timer goal. Several youngsters also were impressive including Blum, Hornquist, Jones, Ryan, Santorelli, and Dekanich. Pekka Rinne started in goal an looked a bit shakey initially but stood solid as the game went on. The save of the game was made by Mark Dekanich stopping all three shots on a flurry in the third, the final shot with the butt of his stick while sprawled on the ice. The Preds travel to Columbus tonight before returning to the Sommet Center Saturday night for the back end of the home and home with the Blue Jackets. (Is it not enough to see the BJ's all season long?)
