Six Predators Named to Olympic Squads, Suter Probable on Friday for USA

With Christmas Day all over again has now been completed with the highly anticipated announcement of Team Canada that held the hockey world spellbound while the Canadians slowly announced the team. It appears that he Predators will have seven eventual representatives for their national teams.

Here are the official players so far:

Patric Hornqvist - Sweden

Shea Weber - Canada

Martin Erat - Czech Republic

Marcel Goc - Germany

Alexander Sulzer - Germany

Roman Josi - Switzerland

Ryan Suter is a virtual shoe in when Team USA is announced during the Winter Classic.

In one of the biggest snubs of all, Pekka Rinne was not named to Team Finland which is surprising after leading Finland at the World Championships last May and having another great season this year.

Pekka a snub? Hard to argue against Kipper and Backstrom .... and Pekka's game is off so far this season. Niemi from the Hawks is playing stellar hockey and probably more deserving right now than our guy and much more of a snub.

Brian, I don't disagree. I would have been less upset with either Niemi or Rask. Pekka's best selling point was his going deep into the World Championships last year. I don't see the logic in Niitti at all.

Look at Niittimaki's GAA and SV% .... he's doing better than Pekka on both counts. Nitty, Rinne, and Niemi all would have been good choices for the third goalie, but, Rinne's drop in performance so far this season probably cost him the spot.
