In many ways it was a very un-Predator-like contest with ten goals being scored in the first two periods and the Predators defense and goal tending collapsing to give up four unanswered goals to the Vancouver and give up a 3-1 lead.
The Predators going three for three on the power-play was a positive difference that was unusual in itself.
What was Predator like was the final period of the game when the game turned to defense and outstanding goaltending from back-up Anders Lindback.
The dramatic winning play where Marty Erat fed Mike Fisher a beautiful pass with 76 seconds left for the game-winning goal was the play that years of highlight plays for the Predators is made of.
The Predators are in a good position to return to Nashville and make a move in the standings over the next five weeks. The Preds are five points out of the Western Conference lead and three points behind the division leading Detroit Red Wings.
Nashville plays 14 of their next 19 games at Bridgestone Arena and this is the portion of the schedule where the team needs to find the magic in Smashville and be huge point collectors to set themselves up for the second half of the season.
They have completed all their games in Western Canada and have made one trip through California already so the schedule tips in their favor going forward. It all starts Saturday night against Buffalo at 7 p.m. CST.
