Predators Plan Big Gala for Opening Night on Saturday

The Nashville Predators are pulling out all the stops as they return to the big party atmosphere for opening night in Smashville at the Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night.

Nashvillians are used to seeing red carpets for big country music events so the Predators will receive the same treatment again this year.

The Buzz 102.9 will celebrate their new tie in with the Preds as the flagship station by broadcasting all day starting at 10 a.m.

There will also be T-shirts for all going to the game as well as games and free ice cream.

Here is the entire release from the Predators...

-Evening to feature Red Carpet roll out, live music, a Duck Hunt video game tournament and a T-shirt giveaway courtesy of Bridgestone-

Nashville, Tenn. (October 5, 2010) – The Nashville Predators will start the 2010-11 season in style this Saturday when they pull out all the stops and roll out the red carpet for the boys in blue. With Predators PA announcer Paul McCann serving as Master of Ceremonies, Opening Night kicks off at 4 p.m. when the players and coaches arrive to walk the red carpet alongside a lucky season ticketholder, greet fans and pose for pictures from the paparazzi.

After the players strut their stuff, the pre-game fun continues with a party on the plaza, complete with live music from Small Time Rock Stars, a Duck Hunt video game tournament (in honor of that evening’s opponent, the Anaheim Ducks), free ice cream provided by Purity, a beer garden and a very special appearance by mascot GNASH – whose grand entrance is sure to delight and excite.

The Predators new flagship radio station, 102.9 The Buzz, is also set to broadcast live from Bridgestone Arena all day. Look for midday personality Troy Hanson from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the broadcast booth at Bridgestone Arena. Afternoon host Zigz takes over at 3 p.m. broadcasting live from the Red Carpet, leading up to the Pre-Game Buzz with Willy Daunic and Tom Callahan at 6:30 p.m.

When the puck drops on the Nashville Predators regular season Home Opener in Smashville on Saturday, October 9 at 7 p.m., fans are sure to be entertained by plenty of big hits, high-speed playmaking and heart-pounding thrills – and that’s only part of the excitement. Off the ice, fans will be treated to an Opening Night T-shirt courtesy of Bridgestone, live intermission music and even a new pre-game video sure to get the blood pumping.

On the ice, the Predators return their core group of players, including the dynamic defensive duo of Ryan Suter and brand-new team captain Shea Weber, last season’s scoring leader Patric Hornqvist and the statuesque Finn Pekka Rinne, who will stand tall between the pipes once again. Fans will also see some new faces this season with the off-season addition of speedy center Matt Lombardi and the return of Predators 2005 draftee Ryan Parent.

Opening Night in Smashville is going to be an event not to be missed. Tickets are going fast but there is still time to secure your seats for this special evening. Tickets may be purchased at the Bridgestone Arena box office, by calling (615) 770-PUCK (7825) or online via ticketmaster.com or nashvillepredators.com.
