Happy Cinco de Mayo to all. Several folks including Brandon Felder and George Scoville are celebrating their last few hours of college as well. Many successes to each of you in your future endeavors.
Thanks to our guests from last night's PredsOnTheGlass Radio. We had some call in issues with BTR and had an extended session with Ryan from the RLD who covered a lot of territory. We also had Richard Loat of Canucks Hockey Blog (also known as Mozy19 on Twitter) and Sarah Connors from Boston with her new blog at For Pucks Sake on at the same time for the last twenty minutes of the show. It was a good time and worth a listen on the podcast. We hope to have both on again for longer sessions in the future as well as regular appearances by our friend Ryan at the RLD.
Last night's game two of the Capitals- Penguins series is one that will be talked about for years as Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby both had their first playoff hat tricks in the same game. Here's a link to all six of the hat trick goals. I'm sure NBC was crying that it was a Versus/TSN game and not on the weekend.
The game was not without controversy with Chris Kunitz crosschecking Varlamov as the game wound down. Just to keep the rivalry between Ovechkin and Crosby going, we have this controversy with Sid the Kid "whining" about too many hats on the ice with videos.
Tonight, we will have two great games to watch that are actually staggered properly with little overlap. In the early game, we will see which Vancouver team shows up for the first game in Chicago. Our guest last night on POTG radio, Richard Loat was confident that the Canucks would recover and play better after two shaky games at home and in spite of a couple of key injuries to Salo and Demitra. Alanah takes an extened look at the game at Kukla's.
It will also be interesting to see how both teams react to Sunday's triple overtime thriller when the Wings show up at Anaheim. My bet is that the Wings will take it in stride and not be shaken.
In Pred Nation...
The stage is set on Wednesday for the USA and Finland to square off in a quarterfinal elimination game which will pit Pekka Rinne and Ville Koistinen against Ryan Suter and Colin Wilson. Pekka's Finland team beat Canada in an extended shootout on Monday to move into a second seed position in the tournament. The US team has limped through the playoffs behind the marginal goaltending of Robert Esche who played in the KHL last year. Canada does not play again until Thursday. The remaining games will be available (legally) at Universal Sports. Maybe they will speak English unlike the feeds we saw on Monday
Forechecker has an interesting piece on Colin Wilson. It gives you an idea of what we are posibly in for in the future.
The Milwaukee Admirals play game three against Houston on the road tonight. I expect that the Ads of game 2 will show up as opposed to the ones of the first game in the series that appeared to have been asleep after the week long layoff.
Around the hockey world...
Paul Kukla has the short list for the slow moving Minnesota Wild GM position and it includes Pierre McGuire and Chuck Fletcher. The Pred's Paul Fenton is listed but not in the final two.
Lost in the last few weeks was the Knoxville Ice Bears winning the SPHL Championship. They even received congratulations on air from NBC Sunday during the Wings-Ducks game.
After some technical issues, Sammy Woo has the Hockey Prime Time site back up and will be carrying POTG material again in the near future.
More later...

Vote on the Overtime Debate at Puck Daddy's. From the results, it appears to be a small minority raising the issue.
Ryan at RLD compares Varlamov 09 to Ward 06.
Todd Stepp gave us this way to link to Oprah's site where you can get a free two piece grilled chicken dinner from KFC if you go print the coupon before 9:59 PM 5/6/09. I'm not a fan of Oprah, but who can argue with a free chicken dinner.
Article from sportsin140 about the NHL Tweetups with Michael DiLorenzo that does not mention dani3boyz. How is that possible? There is a picture of the Caps Tweetup with @love_the_game in it.
Interesting blog from DaBuzz Media's Matt Prielipp on what he does. I first heard of him when he helped the Pred's radio coverage with a game in Phoenix and tweeted to the @predfans group. It's an interesting read on how things come together.
Poll on Sid vs Ovie. Vote Here.
Update from the NHL on Kunitz hit on Varlamov - no suspension.
An SI poll puts Pronger and Ott as the games dirtiest players. No argument here.
Kukla's Member's Blog (Mandingo) addresses Canadian media bias against European players (not non traditional markets this time). Interesting.
