POTG Radio 1st Anniversary Show and Monday Round-Up

Tonight on PredsOnTheGlass Radio, we will celebrate the one year anniversary of our first show which was a year ago tonight. We don't have any one particular guest scheduled but instead will have a combination of audio clips from past shows and open phones.

If you have been a guest before or are a friend of the show give us a call and say hello and help us celebrate what will be our 49th show.

We are not sure exactly what we will discuss but we will cover the Pred's first half of the season and three game win streak. We'll also touch on the Winter Classic and the World Juniors. Please join us and help us celebrate a year of Hockey on BlogTalkRadio.

POTG on the 303:30...

For those who have been out of the loop over the long weekend, Section 303 produced a new edition of the 303:30 on New Years Day. The lead discussion was Jeremy's interview with J.P. Dellacamera who is the lead play-by-play man for the NHL Network at the World Juniors. Jeremy then interviewed me as we discussed the Preds first 41 games and what to expect in the second half of the season.

Preds-Ducks Stories...

Here is our story with postgame comments from both locker rooms.

John Glennon had the game story and notes column. He also had postgame ponderings at Inside Predators.

Jim Diamond had his story at the Examiner while David Boclair files his report for the City Paper.

In the world of Predator blogs See Puck City, Forechecker, and The View From 111.

The other side of the game story comes from the Orange County Record.

In Pred Nation...

The Tennessean starts of the new year with another headline grabbing story about whether the Predators are in default on their lease. As usual, it is a rehash of known facts with a different twist spurred by a potential meeting between the Preds and a new Metro oversight person.

John Glennon has several updates in this mornings notes column.

Mark at The View from 111 has a set of mid-season grades for the Preds.

Dirk the Forechecker compares his preseason point predictions for individual Preds to the mid point stats. It is had to believe how close he was on most of them.

Jim Diamond is back with his weekly prospect round-up which includes information from the World Juniors.

David Boclair has a story about Shea Weber and his dangerous slap shot.

Admiral's Short Shifts has the story of Saturday's loss in a shoot-out to the Marlies and Sunday's matinee with Hamilton that they lost 6-4. The good news from Sunday was Colin Wilson's goal and two assists.

AJ has a "Delivery Schedule" at PMFF and takes a look at whether the Preds will deliver in the season's second half. AJ also finished his three part series "Season on the Brink". It is a great read and offers in depth analysis of the Preds at the mid-point and what they will need to do in the future. (Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3)

World Juniors...

The World Juniors have made it to the the final two after Sunday's action where Canada beat Switzerland 6-1 and Team USA came back to beat Sweden 5-2. That sets up the rematch that everyone wanted in Tuesday's Gold Medal game between Canada and the USA at 7 p.m. CST. The Bronze Medal game game between Switzerland and Sweden will be at 3 p.m. CST. Both will be on the NHL Network in the US.

Today's action will involve the fifth place game between Russia and Finland as a couple of relgation matches.

The Predators have a summary their prospects stats at a special page at Predators.com. It should be noted that Roman Josi, who is also slated to play for Switzerland in the Olympics received a hand injury and returned to the home country for treatment.

Ryan Ellis became the all time scoring leader for defesnsemen when he picked up an assist on Sunday. His 14 points is the most ever by a defenseman.

Will Canada make it six straight on Tuesday? The Winnipeg Free Press is read for them to do so.

Winter Classic Leftovers...

Tim Rosenthal, who provided great coverage of the Winter Classic at Inside Hockey, looks to next year's venue.

This was news to me that I found when looking for something else. The talk of a Winter Classic at Yankee Stadium would be stymied by the "Yankee Bowl" starting in 2010.

Adrian Dater had a very tight schedule but made it to Boston in time for the Winter Classic. He posted his story of the event and it was lost, then found. Here is the re-do.

Matt at View from My Seats interviewed "Anne" who was at the Winter Classic.

Around the NHL...

If you were under a rock and did not hear this weekend, Andy Murray got canned by the Blues. After almost winning the Jack Adams last year, his miserable home record got the best of him.

This is an interesting video from NHL Snipers with Sidney Crosby and Max Talbot shooting at a dryer at Sidney's parent's basement.

Things are worse in Edmonton than we realized. A dispute over a bill reveals a pretty big drinking episode for 45 folks related to the team.

For those feeling Canadian, you can sign up for Cheer Nation and have your name listed in the Hockey Hall of Fame. "Eh! O' Canada Go!" is sponsored by Pepsi.

Just to make the year complete, Jim Ballsillie was named the Business Newsmaker of the Year in Canada. He did that, you have to hand it to him.

More Later...
