Jim Diamond provided the initial news that Shea Weber will not be suspended but will be fined $2500 for his hit on Jannik Hansen on Thursday night. There is no word as to whether he will be considered a repeat offender going forward.

The hit on Jannik Hansen occurred on Thursday night at 5:12 in the third period in the Preds 5-1 loss Vancouver. Hansen received a bloody nose but was able to return to the game.

NHL Fines Nashville's Shea Weber $2,500 For Boarding
NEW YORK (October 21, 2011) – Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for boarding Vancouver Canucks forward Jannik Hansen in NHL Game #89 Thursday night Vancouver, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident, which occurred 5:12 into the third period, was reviewed by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety. The fine was levied for violation of Rule 41.1 – Boarding, of the National Hockey League’s Official Rules. A minor penalty for boarding was assessed on the play.
The fine money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
