On Tuesday night, the Nashville Predator's 3-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks looked like a playoff game. It was about this time last year that the Predators unofficially declared that the playoffs had begun for the team.
The best symbol of the early playoff season in 2011 was Shea Weber's beard which took on a life of its own in the hockey world.
After last night's game, Weber was looking a little scruffy with a several day growth on his cheeks. When asked if this was the beginning of a new "playoff" beard, Weber was clear with his response.
"Nope, it will be gone tomorrow. I'm not going to start early this year. Obviously, it's like playoffs but I'm going to try to change last year's luck."
Fans of the dense facial hair will have to wait until April this year for the beard's return.
