Predators Bring Up Halischuk, Send Thuresson Back Down

The Nashville Predators swapped forwards with the Milwaukee Admirals today sending Andreas Thuresson to Milwaukee and bringing up Matt Halischuk.

Presumably, this is a move to bring in a bit more offense as Halischuk may have a slight edge in that department, including five points in his last eight games.

Nashville, Tenn. (January 16, 2011) – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled forward Matt Halischuk (mat HUH-lihs-chuhk) from Milwaukee (AHL) in addition to reassigning forward Andreas Thuresson (an-DRAY-uhs TUHR-eh-suhn) to the Admirals.

Halischuk, 22 (6/1/88), has 16 points (9g-7a) in 29 games for Milwaukee in 2010-11, and last night at Manitoba, helped set up the overtime game-winning goal just 29 seconds into the extra session of a 3-2 Admirals victory, giving him five points (3g-2a) and a +5 rating in the last eight games. Acquired from New Jersey on June 19, 2010, the Toronto, Ont., native has three points (1g-2a) in 21 NHL contests – all with the Devils – since 2008-09. New Jersey’s fourth choice, 117th overall (fourth round), in the 2007 Entry Draft, Halischuk was a line mate of current Predators forward Nick Spaling on the Kitchener Rangers’ 2008 Ontario Hockey League title-winning team.

Thuresson, 23 (11/18/87), appeared in three games in his first recall of 2010-11, going pointless while logging 10:08 per game.

The Predators will attempt to defeat the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks for the second time in less than 24 hours tonight at 6 p.m. CT at the United Center (FOX Sports Tennessee, 102.9 The Buzz), the first of a season-long six game road trip that also sees Nashville go to Phoenix, Colorado, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver before hitting the All-Star Break on Jan. 27. The Predators return to Bridgestone Arena on Feb. 1 vs. Calgary as they kick-off the season’s stretch run that will see them play 21 of their final 32 games on home ice. Nashville Predators Recall Andreas Thuresson Before Game with San Jose

The Nashville Predators announced that Andreas Thuresson has been recalled this morning before tonight's game in San Jose. This is probably an indication that the injury to Nick Spaling will prevent him from suiting up for tonight's contest or that he may be a game time decision.

In four different stints with the Predators a season ago, the Kristianstad, Sweden native posted three points (1g-2a) in 22 contests, including an assist on Nov. 10, 2009 at San Jose. Now in his fourth North American professional season, Nashville's seventh choice, 144th overall (fifth round), in 2007 Entry Draft has amassed 95 points (43g-52a) in 239 AHL contests.

The Predators will attempt to complete their second-ever three-game sweep of California tonight at 7 p.m. when they clash with the San Jose Sharks (FOX Sports Tennessee, 102.9 The Buzz). Andreas Thuresson Returned to Milwaukee

After playing a few shifts in Detroit last night, Andreas Thuresson was returned to Milwaukee today. It appears that Joel Ward will be able to pay in tonight's game against the Atlanta Thrashers.

Thuresson Recalled by Predators

Once again Andreas Thuresson has been recalled from Milwaukee. Jim Diamond reported from practice that Wad Belak is now questionable in addition to Joel Ward and Marcel Goc not being able to play at Detroit on Friday.

Thuresson Returned to Milwaukee

As expected with the return of Jason Arnott and Jerred Smithson and the probable return of Jordin Tootoo on Thursday, the Predators sent Andreas Thuresson back to Milwaukee. Thuresson has proven the ability to play at the NHL level and will return as the need arises later in the season.

When Tootoo's health is confirmed, look for Nick Spalling to also head hack to the Admirals. His stock really increased in his time in Nashville and is a valuable asset as a two way, penalty-killing gritty player to the organization.

Predators Recall Andres Thuresson

As was reported last night by Admirals Short Shifts Andreas Thuresson will report to Nashville for tonight's game. The Tennessean also confirmed the move today.

With the loss of Jerred Smithson for up to a month and Jordin Tootoo alread on the injuered reserve list, the Predators are testing their depth in the orginization.

Predators Recall Andreas Thuresson (Again)

As we reported earlier, for the second time in five days, the Nashville Predators officially recalled Andreas Thuresson as they prepare to head out for Anaheim today.

Thurresson looked good in his NHL debut on Saturday and is being added to the roster to add depth as Colin Wilson is not traveling with the team to the West coast due to re-aggravation of his groin injury.

Predators Recall Andreas Thuresson

In the second roster move of the day, and the third in two days, The Nashville Predators recalled Andreas Thuresson from Milwaukee. Admirals Shoert Shifts reported this earlier but the official move was just reported.

Thuresson is taking part in the pre-game skate but it is unclear if he will make the final twenty that will be on tonight's game roster.
