Another night in the wild western conference put the Predators back into 9th place.
Anaheim managed to come back, down 4-2, and win it, 6-5, in a shootout in Vancouver. The win put Anaheim in 7th place with 86 points with four games remaining. The one point Vancouver got keeps them in 4th place. Chicago is trailing closely behind by one point with one game in hand.
San Jose pretty much sealed the deal on winning the conference tonight, holding off Edmonton for a 2-1 victory. Even if Edmonton wins all four of their remaining games, they still only come up with 89 points. I don’t think 89 points is going to make it this year. Better luck next year.
St. Louis put the slumping Detroit Red Wings to rest with a 5-4 at Detroit. David Backes had an unbelievable night scoring four goals and his first career hat trick. Congrats to him! The win tonight put St. Louis in the 8th spot with 85 points and four games remaining. President Trophy hopes look dim for the Red Wings, with only four games remaining and six points behind the league leading San Jose Sharks. And here’s a couple of quotes for you from Mike Babcock. "Obviously, the job I'm doing here, the team is not ready, so, myself and the leadership group here, as a group of individuals, we've got to do better than this. This is unacceptable."
Friday’s game against the Blackhawks is a must win for the Predators. Let’s hope we can pull it off again!
