POTG TGIF Headlines, News, and Links: Bring On the Weekend!

Has anyone else had as tough a week as I have experienced? This has been a tough one at work as well as at home where the wife is completely remodeling the entire house with my help. I apologize for any miscues at POTG during our major project. It has to be completed before rookie camp in 15 days.

Be sure and watch the great road victory in game six of the Preds-Canucks game replay tonight.

In Pred Nation...

The Nashville Predators and Bridgestone Arena salute Director of Security, Billy Gross, for his being honored with the Patriot Award. That is serious accolades!

Smashville 24/7 evaluates Cal O'Reilly in their ongoing series of player previews.

Jeremy Gover had his Preds defense preview, part four with those on the outside looking in. Jeremy also speculates on a Sabre becoming a Predator.

Dirk Hoag has only one more rabbit to pull out now as he presents the number two moment in the Predators' postseason.

Predatorial provides a few quotes from David Poile's radio appearance during NHL Home Ice's Preds preview.

Mark WIllloughby has the weekly "My View" with some desperate calls for the US government allow entrepreneurs to be given a chance to succeed and create jobs.

From  @SLakePreds: #Preds prospect Miikka Salomaki scored a hat trick today against Lulea (SEL) at the European Trophy tournament.

Around the NHL...

Last week we were told that the Winter Classic announcement would be this week but so far, we have heard noting further.

Dave Lozo and his friends redrafted the whole NHL, fantasy style, and came up with new rosters within the cap for each team. The Preds got Chris Connor with the last pick. I wish they had added him over the summer.

Chris Johnston caught up with Brendan Shanahan who discusses his new role as NHL disciplinarian including his own indiscretions. Hopefully, the term "wheel of justice" will be used less often this year the Shanny's proposed open-ness in the review process.

Hockey Night in Nashville has their all-Pacific Division team.

Fantasy week continues at RLD Hockey with a look at top defensive producers as well as the top five comeback players.

Kevin Allen has ten impact players for the coming season.

Russ Cohen checked out Ilya Bryzgalov at his first Philly presser yesterday and came away impressed.

Adrian Dater talked to Peter Mueller about his return to normalcy.

The HSBC Arena in Buffalo is now the First Niagara Center.

I was unaware that Ryan Henning of Barry Melrose Rocks was a real weather man so he is fully qualified to discuss Hurricane Irene's effect on the NHL.

The guys at Kurtenblog provide today's Guilty Pleasures at Puck Daddy.

Andy Strickland indicates that the Blues only received one low-ball offer for the team prior to their "deadline,"

Here are highlights from Tim Thomas' day with the Stanley Cup. Michell Kenneth and I discussed if his black pants qualified as men's capris.

Odds and Ends...

With Hurricane Irene heading for the Eastern seaboard this weekend, there are folks that found it to be a positive thing. Every surfer anywhere near Florida's east coast laid out of work yesterday to take advantage of waves like this.

This may be the worst arrest mugshot in history.
