Nashville RollerGirls Week on POTG

On Saturday night, Ryan of RLD Hockey and I attended the Nashville RollerGirls double header against the Ft. Wayne Derby Girls at the Municipal Auditorium in downtown Nashville.

Anyone that has recollection of the Roller Derby of the 60's and 70's should realize that modern derby is a totally different sport involving speed, hitting and pure athleticism and none of the staged stuff of the past..

In the opener, the Music City Brawl Stars defeated the Ft. Wayne SWAT Team 148-77. In the headliner, the Music City All Stars dominated the Ft. Wayne Bomb Squad 139-104.

We will have features and interviews on Wednesday and Thursday this week on the POTG web site. We will also we an interview with Rambo Sambo, who is one of the best skaters in the country, on POTG Radio on Monday.

We would like to thank Leann Lewis of the RollerGirls media relations department for providing press credentials and access to the players and coaches and also a big thanks to the ladies and coach of the team for giving us a good education about the sport.

More Later...
