Pekka Rinne Injured, Mark Dekanich Recalled

Updated: From @BMullenSports: Rinne out 2-4 weeks with left knee injury, per a #Preds official.

In a very odd turn of events, it appears that Pekka Rinne was injured in Wednesday's game in Columbus or at some time since then. All that is known at this point is that Pekka's Agent Jay Grossman sent the following Tweet this AM.

@Jay_Grossman: #Preds Rinne to miss games due to injury, being examined by Drs. right now

The "s" on the end of games really makes it appear like something more than "day to day."

As a result of the injury, the Predators recalled Mark Dekanich from Milwaukee of the AHL. Dekanich has had a great year going 10-3-3 with three shutouts, a 1.71 GAA, and a .941 save %. This is his second recall this year but he has yet to log any NHL minutes this season.

It is probable that Anders Lindback will start in Rinne's absence since there are no back to back games until December 18-19.

Here is the full release from the Predators...

NASHVILLE PREDATORS RECALL GOALIE MARK DEKANICH FROM MILWAUKEE

Nashville, Tenn. (December 3, 2010) – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Mark Dekanich from Milwaukee (AHL).

Dekanich, 24 (5/10/86), will be making his second 2010-11 appearance with the Predators – he backed up rookie netminder Anders Lindback for three games during a five-day recall to Nashville from Oct. 12-17. The North Vancouver, B.C., native has posted three shutouts in his last eight starts for the Admirals, and recently set a franchise record with a 209:31 shutout streak from Nov. 7-18. Nashville’s third choice (146th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft is ranked second in the League in shutouts (3) and wins (tie, 10), in addition to fourth in save percentage (.941) and goals-against average (1.71).

The Predators are back in action on Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena (7 p.m. CT, 102.9 FM The Buzz), playing host to Eric Staal and the Carolina Hurricanes. Saturday’s game is Fellowship Night, designed to not only bring heart-pounding Predators action but also a great environment to spend time with family and friends outside of church. Each Fellowship Night features Christian recording artists performing from the Band Stage during intermissions as well as ticket discounts, food vouchers, church names on the Megatron and preferred seating for groups of 15 or more.

Tickets are still available for Saturday’s contest and may be purchased at the Bridgestone Arena box office, by calling (615) 770-PUCK (7825) or online via ticketmaster.com or nashvillepredators.com.
