Fight Between Tootoo and Sestito Ends with Injury

What started out as a much anticipated fight between Nashville's Jordin Tootoo and the Blue Jacket's Tommy Sestito ended with a head injury and a trip to the hospital for Sestito.

The fight was well underway when the 5'9" Tootoo delivered a blow to the 6'5" Tommy Sestito and the momentum from the punch carried both to the ice. Sestito hit the back of his head and appeared to have suffered a serious injury.

Within seconds Sestito was seen moving and eventually was helped to the bench by fellow players. Sestito was later taken to the hospital for testing as a precaution.

The fight occurred with 21 seconds remaining in the first period and officials ended the period at that time and sent the players to the locker room for an intermission.

Barry Trotz commented after the game, "They were fighting and the momentum carried Jordin over on him and he hit his head on the ice and that s the scary thing when you lose a helmet in a fight and that's really what happened. We were really concerned and got our trainers out as soon as we could. I know Jordin was really concerned and will reach out to the young man. It's just a part of it, and it is unfortunate, but it is one of the dangers when you play this game."

We offer prayers and best wishes to Tommy Sestito for a quick recovery (and a return match next time he and Jordin meet on the ice).
