HOME CLUBS 4-0 IN STANLEY CUP FINAL
Home clubs are 4-0 in the Stanley Cup Final for the third consecutive season. In 2009, the home teams won the first six games before the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Detroit Red Wings in Game 7. In 2010, home teams went five for five before the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime of Game 6 at Philadelphia. In the 20 years prior to 2009, the home team won the first four games just once, in 2003 (New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks). Home teams improved to 15-2 in the Stanley Cup Final since 2009.

PEVERLEY STEPS UP

Playing alongside new linemates David Krejci and Milan Lucic, Bruins forward Rich Peverley tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner to open the scoring at 11:59 of the first period, and posted a +2 rating. Krejci assisted on both tallies, while Lucic earned an assist on Peverley's second goal (Boston's fourth) at 3:39 of the third period. Peverley notched his first multi-goal game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and his first as a member of the Bruins since his acquisition from Atlanta on Feb. 18.

THOMAS CLIMBS SINGLE-YEAR PLAYOFF GOALTENDING LISTS


Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas turned aside all 38 shots he faced in Game 4, increasing his 2011 Stanley Cup Playoff shots and saves totals to 749 and 701, respectively. Only one goaltender has made more saves in one playoff season (Vancouver's Kirk McLean during the Canucks' run to the Stanley Cup Final in 1993-94).

OTHER THOMAS NOTES

* He posted the first shutout by a Bruins goaltender in the Stanley Cup Final since May 18, 1978, when Gerry Cheevers made 16 saves to blank Montreal 4-0 in Game 3 at Boston Garden.
* He improved to 9-1 in the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs when facing 35 or more shots. He posted an 11-3-4 mark during the regular season.
* Thomas lowered his goals-against average during the Stanley Cup Final to 1.26 and upped his save percentage to .966 (141 saves on 146 shots).
* He posted his third shutout of the 2011 playoffs, tying Roberto Luongo for the NHL lead.

KREJCI TAKES PLAYOFF SCORING LEAD


Bruins forward David Krejci tallied a pair of assists in Game 4, increasing his points total in the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs to 22 (11 goals, 11 assists) in 22 games. Krejci moved past Canucks center Henrik Sedin (2-19--21 in 22 games) into first place on the NHL playoff scoring list. He also leads the League in goals (11).

VIDEO REVIEW SUMMARY

Video review confirmed the call on the ice by referee Dan O'Halloran at 3:39 of the third period  that the puck deflected off the body of Boston's Rich Peverley and entered the net legally. Good goal.

STANLEY CUP PLAYOFF TRENDS


The Bruins improved to 10-1 in the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs when scoring the first goal, 8-1 when leading after two periods and 11-4 when being outshot. The Bruins outscored Vancouver 2-0 in the second period, increasing their advantage over opponents in the middle frame to 26-15 in the 2011 playoffs.
