The only goals scored during regulation play came from Patric Hornqvist and Joe Thornton on the power play.
Pekka Rinne and Antti Niemi both played well in goal. Rinne stopped 34 of 35 Sharks' shots while Antti Niemi stopped 32 of 33 Predator shots.

In Goal: Pekka Rinne (39-14-7, 2.37, .924) versus Antti Niemi (26-18-9, 2.44, .913).
Scratches: Nashville - Kevin Klein, Brian McGrattan, Matt Halischuk, Gabriel Bourque, Roman Josi, and Jack MacLellan. San Jose - Jim Vandermere, Colin White, Brad Winchester, Michal Hanszus and Tommy Wingels.
San Jose did a great job of keeping Nashville away from their net to start the game with the Preds only getting one shot until Shea Weber had a shot on the power play at 12:25.
The Predators drew the first penalty at 11:23 when Marc-Edward Vlasic high sticked Sergei Kostitsyn. Hornqvist scored on the power play at 13:18 to put the Preds ahead 1-0. The play was set up with great patience from Mike Fisher. Marty Erat received the secondary assist.
Andrei Kostitsyn was called for slashing Ryane Clowe at 14:28. San Jose had three shots on the man-advantage but did not score.

Second Period...
With 4:17 remaining in the period, an all out scrum occurred in front of the Predators' net when Marty Havlat took out Rinne with his stick. As a result of the play, Havelat was called for roughing and Daniel Winnik and Paul Gaustad were also given minors.
With 11 seconds left in the period, David Legwand was called for interference on Joe Pavelski.
During the period, Rinne put on a Vezina-like performance stopping numerous Sharks' scoring chances while stopping all 15 official Sharks' shots.

Third Period...
The Sharks began the period with 1:49 of carry-over on the Legwand penalty. Thornton tied the game at 1-1, 55 seconds in to the period with a power-play goal on an odd bounce off of a skate. The original shot came from Pred-killer Patrick Marleau with an assist to Dan Boyle.
Andrei Kostitsyn was called for high sticking on Logan Couture at 4:47. The Sharks got one shot on net and did not score.
At 7:35, David Legwand had a point blank shot on Niemi but could not convert.
Paul Gaustad was knocked down by Dominic Moore near the San Jose net and left the game at 11:14 with an apparent wrist injury and was not able to return.
With 57.2 seconds left, Vlasic nailed Hornqvist near the net and buried him deep into the goal cam.
The period ended 1-1 with the game headed for overtime.

Overtime...
At 1:20, Rinne made the save of the game to keep the Predators hopes alive. At 2:05, Boyle was stoned by Rinne on a potential game winner. With 2:16 left, the Preds missed a chance with Craig Smith on a two on one chance.
With 3.9 seconds left in overtime, Weber was called for tripping Pavelski. Fisher won the faceoff but Marleau got a shot at the buzzer but did not connect, sending the game to the shootout.

Havelat was stopped by Rinne.
Craig Smith is now 0-4 after being stoned by Niemi.
Pavelski was stopped by Rinne.
Andrei Kostitsyn was stopped by Niemi after losing the puck.
Clowe put the puck past Rinne to put the Sharks up 1-0 in the shootout.
Legwand failed to tie the game so the Sharks took home a 2-1 victory.
