The Morning After: Canucks 1 - Predators 0

Predator fans were left wanting a few more minutes on the clock at the end of the game last night. With the exception of Pekka Rinne, Shea Weber, and Mike Fisher, the rest of the team sleepwalked through 50 minutes of a really good hockey game between Vancouver and Nashville last night in game one of their Western Conference Quarterfinal match.

Pekka Rinne was outstanding allowing only one goal on 30 shots, many of which were good scoring chances by the Canucks. A very wise Vancouver media voted Peks the number one star of the game.

Barry Trotz said that there were "too many passengers." Shea Weber said that "guys need to look in the mirror." Between the coach and the captain motivating the troops, it is guaranteed to be a much better contest in game two.

The positive side of the story is that game two is tomorrow and I expect to see a much more aggressive Predator team try to tie the series up and return to Nashville with home ice advantage with the series tied 1-1. The defense was much better than it had been against the Ducks and Rinne was back in true form after a few days off.

Game two will be tomorrow night at 8 p.m. CDT and will be exclusively on Versus once again.

Predators- Canucks Game One Round-Up...

Here is our game story from last night.

Josh Cooper had his game story, notes column, and postgame ponderings. He also has a post about the Jon Blum nostalgia tour.

Jim Diamond touches on Keith Ballard as a serial clipper.

David Boclair has his story at The City Paper where he says the Preds were more spectator than spectacular.

From the blog world reports come from Amanda DiPaolo, Mark Willoughby, Dirk Hoag (with his advances stats), Jeremy Gover, Predatorial, Fang Faction, and Hockey Night in Nashville.

Hockey Night in Canada had video highlights (in Canadian) and Don Cherry doing Coaches Corner on Shane O'Brien and Pekka Rinne.

Dan Rosen has the details from a very upset Barry Trotz after last night's game.

At Puck Daddy, Chris Higgins got the first star of the night while Pekka Rinne got the second. That mirrored the picks at NHL.com.

At PHT Barry Trotz says "not acceptable."

The other side of the story comes from all the wonderful Canuck's media sites listed in the right column.

Highlights come from NHL.com
