One of Canada's more unique hockey personalities will be coming to Nashville on a weekly basis on 102.5 The Game on Sunday nights at 7 p.m. starting in October. Launy 'The" Schwartz will bring his brand of hockey talk and reporting to the local airwaves as the NHL season gets underway.
Launy, along with his producer, Dahlia Kurtz, have traveled to many NHL events including the Awards Show, All Star Game, and Heritage Classic to bring their fans information that you don't see elsewhere.
Most recently, Schwartz has traveled across Canada as the spokesman for Booster Juice at many events as a correspondent and in-game talent. You can visit his home base at Hockey 54 for some classic videos with the NHL's top stars.
Schwartz has had a Nashville connection for several years, being a featured guest on PredsOnTheGlass Radio and RLD Hockey Talk many times.
Contacted in Toronto this afternoon, Launy says that he is ready to get "Smashed in Nashville." Asked what will make his show different he replied, "There is no other 'Schwartz-caster' out there."
He plans to have a less rigid format as he will bring Nashville radio listeners news and features from the Predators and the rest of the NHL. He feels that "the game of hockey is talked about too seriously, but you have to realize that before vulcanized rubber, frozen excrement was used as a puck."
"If you can visualize a combination of 'Wayne's World' and 'The Daily Show' with a focus on hockey, then that will give you an idea of what to expect."
Schwartz was a finalist on The Score's "Drafted: Search for Canada's Next Sportscaster" show in 2010. He is a life-long goalie and hockey instructor with over 25 years in the game, so he speaks will plenty of knowledge and first hand experience.
"I couldn't be happier to be joining all of our friends in Nashville and coming down for an in person visit in the near future," concluded Schwartz.
When Launy "The" Schwartz arrives in Smashville, you will know that he is in the house! His "Hockey 54! The Faaaaaace of the Game" will be hard to miss.
